Latitude gives us line- a focused way to bridge local and global that honors the contour and nuance of local life globally. The Latitude Movement brings fresh connections, ideas and perspectives to local life, and forwards the possibility of local communities participating in a sustained global conversation with one another.
The Latitude Movement works to connect local communities around the world sharing the same latitude line- through gatherings, events, and creative latitude projects. The possibilities for latitude-based conversations, exchanges and creative collaborations builds on the powerful connection of same day light already experienced each and every day along a latitude line east and west around the world. Same day light shapes the rhythms of agriculture, art, work and life on a latitude line, and is the basis for building a global community of local folks who have something simple and profound in common- Latitude. In the Latitude Movement, the idea of a Latitude Circle starts as an east-west line around the world, and emerges as an enduring relationship amongst local folks globally.
The Latitude Movement is not intended to be everything. It’s an idea- a creative spark- that gets people to think about the relationship between their home community and the rest of the world in new ways. Real connection, based on light, and a movement to build on that connection through real conversation along same latitude around the world.
